The Escola Universitària de la Salut i l’Esport, a centre affiliated to the UdG, remains among the top 150 in the world (position 101-150) in terms of sport science schools, faculties and departments in the prestigious Shanghai Ranking, according to the latest publication made last December.
The Shanghai Ranking first published the global ranking of sport science schools and departments in 2016 and EUSES-UdG first appeared in 2021, and has remained there ever since that date. In this year’s list, almost 500 universities from all over the world have been assessed and the top 300 have been listed. The top ranking goes to an Australian university (Deakin University), followed by two Nordic universities, from Denmark (University of Copenhagen) and Norway (Norwegian School of Sport Sciences), respectively.
The top 300 universities are ranked according to several indicators. The best evaluation of EUSES is in citations per publication, where it accumulates 52.9 points. It is also well positioned in articles with international co-authorship, with 52.7 points. The rest of the score comes from articles indexed in Web of Science (14.1), articles published in the top 25% of journals (10.7) and citation (5.9).
EUSES is the only Catalan university in this ranking, where there are five Spanish universities that have been placed ahead: the University of Extremadura (13th), the University of Granada (14th), the University of Las Palmas (38th), the European University of Madrid and the University of Murcia (places 51 to 100). EUSES-UdG appears in the band (places 101 to 150) together with the University of Madrid, the Polytechnic University of Madrid and the University of Zaragoza.
