The Escola Universitària de la Salut i l’Esport, a centre affiliated to the UdG, remains among the top 150 in the world (position 101-150) for the fourth consecutive year in terms of schools, faculties and departments of sport science in the prestigious Shanghai Ranking, according to the latest publication made last December.
The Shanghai Ranking first published the global ranking of sport science schools and departments in 2016 and EUSES-UdG first appeared in 2021, and has remained there ever since. In this year’s list, almost 500 universities from all over the world have been assessed and the top 300 have been listed. The top ranking once again goes to Deakin University (Australia). Second and third place go to two Nordic universities, although they have swapped positions with respect to last year’s ranking: the Norwegian School of Sport Sciences (Norway) has moved up to second place and the University of Copenhagen (Denmark) has dropped to third.
The top 300 universities are ranked according to several indicators. The best evaluation of EUSES is in citations per publication, where it accumulates 52.9 points. It is also well positioned in articles with international co-authorship, with 52.7 points. The rest of the score comes from articles indexed in Web of Science (14.2), articles published in the top 25% of journals (10.7) and citation (5.9).
EUSES is the only Catalan university in this ranking, where there are five Spanish universities that have been placed ahead: the University of Granada (12th), the European University of Madrid (25th), the University of Las Palmas (35th) and the universities of Extremadura and Murcia (places 51 to 100). EUSES-UdG appears in the band (places 101 to 150) together with the universities Autónoma de Madrid, Rey Juan Carlos I, Camilo José Cela and Zaragoza.
