Advanced Training Cycle in Radiotherapy and Dosimetry

About

These studies enable the application of medically prescribed ionizing radiation treatments, the use of equipment supplied from encapsulated or radiation-producing sources, applying general and specific radiation protection standards, and assisting the patient during his stay in the unit, as well as performing radiological protection procedures in hospital, following quality assurance standards and the protocols established in the care unit.

The duration is 2.000 hours (1.386 hours in class and 614 hours in internships), divided in two academic years with the possibility of doing it in online format.

Acces

People having some of the following requirements can access directly to the program:

  • Have the high school diploma or equivalent
  • Have a Vocational Education and Training diploma (VET) or a Certificate of Higher Education (HNC)
  • Professional or technical specialist
  • Have any Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent
  • Having passed the university entrance test for over 25 years

People not having any of the aforementioned requirements must pass an entrance test. In order to apply, it is necessary be aged 19 years old or turn 19 during the year in which the test will take place.

Objectives

The student of the Higher Degree Training Cycle of Radiotherapy and Dosimetry Technician will develop the following competencies within the cycle:

  • Interpret and fill in radiotherapy service health documentation using computer applications to organize and manage the work area.
  • Recognize basic anatomophysiological and pathological characteristics to establish differences between normal and pathological images.
  • Implement start-up and maintenance procedures to verify equipment performance.
  • Implement quality and safety protocols in equipment preparation to verify performance.
  • Perform contrast management techniques, according to protocols, to obtain quality medical images.
  • Apply image processing procedures to obtain the required image quality.
  • Select materials, equipment and apply techniques to develop accessories and accessories.
  • Recognize user needs and apply initial healthcare techniques according to unit protocols.
  • Make reference marks and locate the body region in medical imaging for treatment simulation.
  • Prepare equipment and supplements for radiotherapy treatments.
  • Manage the appropriate radioactive sources for radiotherapy treatments, identifying the supervisory staff and their functions to the hospital radiophysics unit.

Internship

Internships are carried out in the radiology departments of the main hospitals and clinics in the area.

Which career opportunities does the HNC Radiotherapy and Dosimetry ?

This training gives access to the working world as:

  • Superior technician or technique in radiotherapy;
  • Radiotherapy specialist technician or technician;
  • Auxiliary staff of radiation protection services;
  • Commercial delegate of medical radioelectrology equipment.

The qualification of technical specialist obtained at the end of this program gives access to any Bachelor’s Degree. People who have obtained a Certificate of Higher Education (HNC) can validate ECTS university credits.

We remind you that the reservation of the place will only be considered effective once the payment of the pre-enrollment fee of 315 € has been validated. This payment must be made to the account number specified in the last section of the pre-enrollment form. It is very important that when making the transfer, you include the name and surname of the student and the name of the studies which are pre-enrolling. Once your place is confirmed in July, you will need to make a payment of 321 €* which corresponds to the enrollment fee.
